Storm Protection

We all come to the beach to relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery of the bay. It is easy to forget how powerful a force the sea can be and we must be prepared in case of a storm.
This page will give you resources to help protect yourself and your property against a storm or hurricane.

When driving home from the beach you may notice signs along major roads showing hurricane evacuation routes. When traveling to the beach during hurricane season you should know the hurricane eventuation routes as well as locations of shelters along these routes should weather conditions rapidly deteriorate. State officials have marked routes to evacuate these areas and have plans for facilities on these routes to provide first aid, food, fuel and shelter. Take advantage of this planning and use the posted routes for evacuation.

You should never try and ride out a hurricane and should leave as far in advance as possible.
